A Family Day to bring staff and their families together in an exceptional setting
Building connections in a different way, enabling staff to share a special moment with their loved ones and strengthening their sense of belonging to the company: the
Family Day has now established itself as a particularly unifying event. On 25 September,
Oleis Travel Events organised a Family Day in the Gard region, bringing together nearly
450 participants at the
Château de Clary.
This superb 18th-century Provençal château was fully transformed for the occasion. Special lighting was used to showcase the venue’s architecture, whilst more than
300 m² of nomad tents were erected to create various social areas and ensure participants were welcomed in the best possible conditions. The particularly pleasant weather also meant that everyone could make the most of the outdoor areas, lending this major corporate evening a truly festive atmosphere.
What is a corporate Family Day and why organise one?
A
corporate Family Day is an event organised by a company to invite its staff to share a convivial moment with their families, usually in a setting different from their everyday working environment. Spouses, children and relatives can thus discover the company from a different perspective and gain a better understanding of the environment in which staff work. A Family Day can take various forms: a day in the countryside, a family party, sporting activities, children’s entertainment, creative workshops, challenges, a show, a lunch, a drinks reception or a grand festive evening.
For the company, the benefits go far beyond simply providing a chance to relax. Family Day is a genuine
tool for team-building and internal communication. It encourages informal exchanges between teams, facilitates interactions between staff from different departments and creates shared memories in a more relaxed setting. By involving families, the company also sends a positive message: it shows that it views staff as whole people and that it wishes to recognise and value those who support them in their daily lives.
A successful Family Day can therefore help to strengthen the
sense of belonging, team engagement and the employer brand. It provides an opportunity to thank staff for their commitment, to celebrate a success or simply to create a highlight in the life of the company. For organisations with multiple sites or teams that do not know each other well, this type of event also represents an excellent opportunity to bring staff closer together and develop a shared corporate culture.
Entertainment, food and music at the heart of the experience
For this latest edition, held at the Château de Clary, the programme was designed to appeal to both adults and children. Catering naturally played a key role, featuring a
refined and convivial local cocktail reception, comprising hot and cold dishes, desserts and various culinary workshops, notably focusing on risotto and plancha cooking. This format was particularly well-suited to Family Day as it allowed participants to move about freely and enjoy the various activities throughout the evening.
Numerous games and challenges had also been devised to liven up the event and encourage participation from all generations. Some activities could be enjoyed at one’s leisure, whilst others were supervised by activity leaders. Stands featuring
biathlon and hockey rounded off the programme, adding an extra sporting and fun element.
Finally, music was one of the central themes of the evening.
La Compagnie Les Enjoliveurs accompanied participants as they wandered around with their New Orleans-inspired musical style, instantly creating a warm and festive atmosphere. A DJ then took over to keep the party going and allow participants to round off the day on the dance floor.
This combination of an exceptional venue, staging, catering, entertainment and musical programme perfectly illustrates one of the key principles of a Family Day: offering enough variety so that everyone can enjoy the event at their own pace, whilst maintaining a genuine sense of cohesion throughout.
